Afternoon all,
Hot Weather
It was good to see time matches starting last week for all divisions except for 4th XI divisions, who of course will be only playing overs matches this season. With hot weather expected tomorrow, please can all clubs make sure to take appropriate amounts of drink breaks and can hosts help provide areas of shade for players to rest in.
Gallows Corner Closure
This coming Monday 23rd June is the start of Major construction work at Gallows Corner. This means that this main artery is going to be closed for the rest of the cricket season. This will of course mean disruptions to journeys to and from fixtures.
I met with TFL and Costain this morning to get the latest update on the project and to be able to provide practical advice.

Travelling to and from East London
The advice is to use the Major roads such as the M11, M25 and A13 to avoid the Gallows Corner area.
Travelling to grounds close to Gallows Corner
There are several of our league members close to Gallows Corner, Gidea Park and Romford, Hornchurch, Harold Wood, Hornchurch Athletic and Upminster. But there are also many others close by that could be impacted by increased traffic.
To be clear, Gidea Park and Romford’s ground will be accessible, but teams will have to approach from either Main Road (from Romford) or from Upper Brentwood Road.
The best advice we can currently offer is that if you are travelling to or through an impacted area that you should give yourselves at least an extra half an hour.
It is also worth using travel apps such as “Waze” or the maps on your mobile device.
I have asked all clubs that if they have helpful advice to offer then to contact opposition.
I hope this will just be an annoyance and that fixtures will still be able to take place as usual.
Any questions or comments let me know.
