Firstly I hope that everyone celebrating Eid Al-Adha has a wonderful time with their friends and family.
Matches This Weekend
We have a couple of issues to deal with before we get to the potential weather problems.
We only had a few matches called off this Saturday due to availability of players because of Eid.
But, we have subsequently discovered that Waltham Forest council has called off all this weekend’s cricket matches on Thursday - due to them saying they are unable to prepare pitches because of the weather.
We then also face a poor weather forecast tomorrow.
There is now the potential for a load of fixtures to be impacted tomorrow by weather or outside impacts.
To try to help get as many results as possible please can all clubs do the following:
1 Remind all captains to have a look at the rules for their matches - all rules are found here https://www.essexcricket.com/pages/page_34628/Rules-and-Regulations.aspx
2 If your match is impacted by rain please leave notes on the result on Play Cricket so that we can ensure the correct points are given to each XI.
3 Have sawdust etc available to help if required.
4 Have contact details for your opposition and keep in contact with them
Any match that was called off prior to Saturday - whether this be down to Eid, Waltham Forest council or the weather will be awarded the points the committee decides following the rest of the league matches being completed on Saturday.
One final reminder, if your club has a higher XI match that has needed to be postponed, please don’t take this opportunity to strengthen a lower XI. Points may be deducted if this does happen.
I hope that the forecast is kinder than it currently appears.
