League Update - Fixtures, Ball Delivery, Pre-Season Meeting

01 Mar 2024

Hello All,

We are getting closer to the start of the season, so I wanted to provide an important update - there is also an action point for all clubs to follow.

Fixtures

Fixtures are very delayed this season - this is due to several factors - but most importantly is that we are trying to find a way of working on the fixtures that will sort any future fixture planning. This has included creating a bit of tech and an algorithm that is giving us much quicker options - but is taking a bit of time to get correct.

The above may be of interest but, will not help you in your club planning and fielding the questions from your members.

So this is the timeline for fixtures

By Sunday 10th March - 1st and 2nd XI fixtures on Play Cricket

By Sunday 17th March - fixtures for all other XIs will be on Play Cricket

As per previous years, and has been confirmed by the tech we have helping us, a complete set of fixtures that satisfies all club needs is almost impossible to produce. But we are trying to get to as good a set of fixtures as possible.

We appreciate all your patience.

League Cup and 2nd XI friendlies

While we wait for league fixtures, the league cup matches are confirmed.

The League Cup round 1 is on Saturday 27th April - a reminder that historically 2nd XIs of clubs play each other on this day as well.

But it is vital that clubs talk to each other and confirm if they are playing a 2nd XI match.

With the wet weather we have had, a reminder that if a venue is unavailable this can be switched to the opposition venue.

Ball Delivery

We have ordered all cricket balls for the season.

Please can each club fill in this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdxAYAMWTI9cy-zw35KQF54SRDQt-1UEh1Uxs-LGg8ovX8hJA/viewform

Detailing if you will pick up cricket balls from Morrants or want to get them sent to a club contact.

Pre Season Meeting

The league pre-season meeting will be on Sunday 21st April
Thank you to Gidea Park and Romford CC for hosting

10am for 10.30am start

Clubmark and Safe Hands

All clubs are reminded that they need to update their Safe Hands and Clubmark with the following:

  • ECB Safeguarding Statement

  • Latest set of AGM minutes

  • Liability insurance (if not Howdens)

  • Captains with up to date DBS

Please talk to your county reps if any issues.

HFEL v EAPL Challenge Match

Date for your diary June 4th will be the challenge match at the County Ground in Chelmsford. We hope the league continues its dominance in this match.

Good Luck Hornchurch

Hornchurch are playing in the European Cricket League again, you can follow their progress online (finals day for their group is tomorrow) - they take on Wimbledon at 6.30pm tonight! https://www.ecn.cricket/scores-fixtures

I am looking forward to a great 2024 season.

Please let me know if any questions or comments.
