Pre Season Meeting Agenda and Other Updates

Pre Season Meeting

Final reminder of the meeting on Sunday 21st April 10am for 10.30am at Gidea Park and Romford CC.

Please arrive on time, and clubs are expected to stay for the entire meeting.

Any clubs that do not attend will be fined.

Agenda

Balls

Balls are out for delivery and available to collect from Morrants (if that is what your club chose to do). They should arrive with clubs by Wednesday next week at the latest.

Some clubs will get a 2nd delivery of balls, due to not all of the standard ball being available at the moment.

League Cup

As I look out the window at yet more rain falling, I know clubs are already concerned about their pitches for the first round of the League Cup on the 27th April.

A reminder - These games are 12noon starts, 45 overs, red standard league ball, white clothing.

If the home team pitch is not available, then the matches can be swapped to the away team ground. Also if a suitable 3rd and 4th XI ground is fit to host a game over a waterlogged 1st XI ground, then that can also be done. Please make sure to inform the league, oppositon and umpires of any changes.

The more games we can get played over the first two Saturdays of the cup the better - as it helps with a fixture backlog.

Player Registrations

It is getting to the very busy time of the year for player registrations. Paul has some help from Nadim this year in signing off registrations. But this is still a very busy time for them. Please have some patience and don’t send email chasers unless a real emergency.

Trophies

We have been talking to clubs and understanding what trophies are missing - we have already ordered some replacement trophies - which we hope to have sorted in the very near future. If there is any club that has a trophy that they should no longer have. Please bring it on Sunday.

Coronation Cup

The Coronation Cup fixture between Hornchurch and Hadleigh & Thundersley was originally planned to take place on the first league weekend. Due to the fixture issues, this game had to move. The Overs game between Hornchurch and Hadleigh & Thundersley will still count as the Coronation Cup match where the trophy will be contested.

1st XI Division 4

I will mention this on Sunday, but as clubs are aware we have an odd number of clubs in 1st XI Division 4 this season, this means that all the clubs in that division have one or two weeks where their 1st XIs do not have a match. The committee has discussed how clubs should approach their lower XIs during this time, and the committee expects all clubs that have lower XIs playing in the HFEL to use the Spirit of Cricket when picking teams for these weeks. If there are clubs that are failing to respect the league and their opposition by playing players who are clearly at the wrong level, then there will be sanctions put in place.

The committee can help with questions about teams and their players if clubs want to have clarity on any selection matters.

Clubmark and Safehands

We still have 10 clubs who have not uploaded the relevant documents onto the Clubmark portal or are showing as not compliant on Safe Hands.

All outstanding clubs should get this done immediately - failure to have Clubmark could lead to sanctions being placed on the club.

The Essex reps will keep the league updated on progress.

Paul sent out an email yesterday asking for all clubs to update their contacts if they have not done so already. Please get this done by this weekend.
