Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your club’s requirements for the 2024 season.
The divisions and cup draws have now all been created. These can be viewed on Play Cricket at this link https://essexcl.play-cricket.com/Competitions
It is vital that all clubs now check that we have included all the correct divisions, and that your XIs are in what look like the correct divisions.
A few notes
1 You will notice that the Premier Division contains the same 10 clubs as the 2023 season. As reported at the AGM this is due to the two clubs that would have been promoted from Division 1 either asking to not get promoted, or failing to meet ECB Premier Division requirements. The committee has decided to keep the clubs that would have been relegated in the Prem division for 2024, as they both showed that they could compete at that level in 2023.
2 We have added an extra level back into the 4th XI divisions - meaning that there is an East and West Premier Division, Division 1 and Division 2.
This was due to the increased number of XIs this year, and this seems like the fairest way to split the divisions so that clubs get to play a good number of games, against similar standard opposition and it is still regionalised to cut down on travel time.
