Update - Time Games Start This Saturday

08 Jun 2023

After early games were impacted by rain, it has been good to see much more cricket being played recently. Let’s hope that continues - some important updates below, please have a good read

Time Games

From this Saturday (June 10th) all matches in all divisions will be Time matches. All Rules and regulations for the divisions your XIs play in can be found ar this link. https://www.essexcricket.com/pages/page_34628/Rules-and-Regulations.aspx

Time Game Reminders -

  • Clubs should have a clock available to be viewed on the ground.

  • All clubs are expected to keep up to an acceptable over rate.

  • The matches have a minimum amount of overs to be bowled - if a match goes the distance then the overs bowled should be at least the minimum number of overs available at the start of the game.

  • No DLS is used in Time matches.

  • Please can all captains read the regulations for their matches.

Results and Scorecards

All clubs are reminded of the rules around uploading scorecards and results.

If clubs are able to put their XIs onto Play Cricket before matches this will help with live scoring, but also for populating scorecards after the fixtures have been completed.

T20 Plate Competition

Round 1 is now complete, round 2 can be seen here https://essexcl.play-cricket.com/cup_draw?id=60206

Clubs are reminded that they need to organise the dates that these matches are played, they then can change the date and time on Play Cricket themselves.

Clubs also need to organise their own umpires to officiate. All the panel umpire contact details can be found here https://www.essexcricket.com/pages/page_35032/Umpires-Information.aspx

T20 Cup Competition

Congratulations to Billericay, Brentwood, Hornchurch and Wanstead & Snaresbrook who qualified for Finals Day.

League Cup

Thanks to very hard work from clubs and officials - we are nearly back on track with the League Cup and if everything goes well we will have our quarter-finalists sorted by end of June.

Coronation Cup

Wanstead & Snaresbrook v Chingford was abandoned on 6th May - the two clubs have agreed to play for the cup again in their Time match.
