The executive committee of the Essex League are pleased to announce in partnership with Marylebone Cricket Club and Essex Cricket in the Community a new trial scheme for the 2023 season.
In order to make the game more exciting all batters will now be required to ground their bat or foot behind two additonal popping creases in order to complete a run. This will help to make the game more exciting whenever the ball is hit into the outfield.
As part of this trial, it is recommended thart clubs rotate their playing surfaces by 45 degrees in order to let more spectators see Who is fielding at first crease.
Further details will be shared at the league's spring management meeting later in the month.
