Well after the hard work and fair play of the Covid season last year - the league is certainly back with a bang this week.
We have had weather, result, discipline and Covid issues to deal with and the correspondences have been flooding into our inboxes.
So I wanted to give a few details out so clubs know who they need to contact at the league if required.
Discipline issues contact Tony - firstname.lastname@example.org
General playing or match/league issues contact Cliff - email@example.com
Umpire questions contact Gary - firstname.lastname@example.org
Play Cricket and website contact Paul - email@example.com
League Cup and T20 contact Dave - firstname.lastname@example.org
Anything else to do with the League you can of course contact me - email@example.com
The entire exec committee is listed here https://www.essexcricket.com/officials/default.aspx
Please do remind your club members and captains that they need to follow the league rules and protocols - we have had a lot of penalty points handed out already for admin issues.
New Covid Regulations
Please make sure to keep up to date with all the latest regulations at https://www.ecb.co.uk/covid-19
Many clubs will be discovering what the inside of their clubhouses look like again this weekend. Please do so in a safe and responsible manner.
Rain and reduced over matches
Please can all clubs remember that the league rules and regulations have specific instructions to what to do if it is raining and reduced overs.
All rules and regulations can be found here https://www.essexcricket.com/pages/page_34628/Rules-and-Regulations.aspx
Clubs and XIs must try to follow these rules as closely as possible.
For example, clubs cannot immediately reduce overs at 12.30pm to 20/20 if there is rain forecast for later in the day.
**Please can all clubs note down rain breaks and reasons for why matches are reduced in overs when the result is added onto Play Cricket.**
This will make our life much easier for sorting bonus points etc
I think we have all been surprised by how much cricket has been able to be played in recent times - let’s hope that continues and we even glimpse the sun at some points this summer!
Any issues of course let me know.
