HFEL Update - ECB Releases Road Map

19 Mar 2021

Good evening,

Several updates below - please take time to read them all

Roadmap Announcement

You may have seen that the ECB have now published their roadmap for the return of cricket. Details of this can be found in this handy link that the county have created https://www.essexcricket.org.uk/2021/03/19/latest-ecb-covid-19-guidance-for-clubs-and-leagues-march-2021/

This has details of Roadmap, playing plan, socially distanced cricket and FAQs.

I have had a meeting with the ECB Premier Leagues group come into my diary for next Wednesday 24th March Afternoon and the league exec committee will also be meeting that evening. We will then report back to all clubs after that.

This is the advice that we have been waiting on, but there will of course be more questions - please take a chance to look at the advice - if there are any particular questions please do send them to me via email tpc1981@hotmail.com - I will then try and get these as answered as fully as I can.

League Cup

As mentioned last week the League Cup has been redrawn so that we have some reasonably close geographical fixtures for the end of April and start of May.

This is now live on the play cricket website and can be viewed here - https://essexcl.play-cricket.com/website/websites/view_cup?id=54217

Round 1 and 2 have been drawn - there will be a redraw for rounds 3 onwards when hopefully restrictions have been lessened.

Current Restrictions

There has been a bit of confusion over rules - which is unsurprising with the amount of restrictions and rules we have been dealing with.

However cricket is currently banned in all forms except for in education settings. There should be no organised cricket, training, coaching or matches taking place at member clubs and grounds.

Restrictions will change on March 29th.

It is time to get excited about the cricket season - it is going to take place this year, but please let’s plan and act in a responsible manner. We will be in touch next week following the planned meetings.

If there are any questions or comments on the above, please do get in touch.
