Hamro Foundation Essex League News story

Final 2020 Communication - Action Required

22 Dec 2020

May I start by saying that the committee wishes all the clubs and their members the very best over this most toughest of Christmas periods.

The Shepherd Neame Essex League will of course be renamed the Hamro Foundation Essex League from 1st Jan 2021.

I would once more like to thank Shepherd Neame for their years of support, we all wish them the very best of luck as they continue to have to deal with the current restrictions put on the leisure industry.

Currently the Committee is continuing to plan for the 2021 season as if it were going to be the same length and division set up of any “normal” season.

To help us plan fully please read all the points below and act where appropriate - It will assist us going forward.

Please see the divisions we are currently working on here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EhFF_DqO_u-K4C2KQIKg_Ns155HK59RSESbKnOzzHTU/edit?usp=sharing

Please do look and let new Fixture Secretary Sandeep - spathak32@gmail.com know of any issues.

Fixture Requirements

We will be using the 2020 fixtures (original) as the basis for fixtures.

Unless we are otherwise informed we will assume that your club will have 1st and 2nd XIs paired with each other - as well as 3rd and 4th and 5th and 6th Xis etc.

Please send over any specific fixture requirements including unavailable dates for grounds, pairings with other clubs etc to Sandeep spathak32@gmail.com asap.

Extra Balls

If you wish to order additional balls above your club’s league allowance for the 2021 season please contact Andrew Pearson apearson.shipping@ntlworld.com

Please make it clear if premier or non premier balls - and also what colour are needed.

Overseas Exempt Players

We have been made aware that the ECB are currently looking at the classification of overseas players. Potentially removing the Overseas Exempt Category - we will update clubs when we have more information.

ECB Current Advice

I do not believe the ECB has given advice for Tier 4 areas at the moment. But many leisure centres and indoor cricket hosts have been forced to close. We ask that all clubs remain vigilant and try to keep up to date with the latest advice. Many indoor leagues I know have decided to cancel their season completely.

I would like to thank everyone for their amazing support over 2020 - although we still have much to deal with -  I feel that as a league we will come out of this year in a stronger place.

I would also like to personally thank everyone for their support during my first year as chairman… I hope next year will be less complicated!

Any questions or concerns with any of the above please do get in touch.

Tom Clarke

Essex League Chairman
