Good evening everyone,
I hope everyone is looking forward to the games this weekend. I wanted to update everyone following another busy week.
Positive COVID-19 Test
On Friday of last week we were informed of a 1st XI player who had tested positive for COVID-19.
I would like to thank both the club involved, Wanstead and Snaresbrook, as well as their opposition, Hornchurch, in acting quickly and safely around this situation. Also the other clubs and officials who had to take action.
The full details of what procedures and actions took place can be read in the attached document.
We originally agreed to allow the 1st XI game between the clubs to be rearranged - but following the wet weather last Saturday and all other Premier Tier games being abandoned - we (the committee) have decided that this game will also go down as abandoned.
This shows that COVID-19 is still very much with us and can strike at any moment, please can all clubs make sure they continue their robust measures right up to the end of the season.
SPECIAL MEASURES FOR NON-COMPLIANCE
The latest ECB update for clubs and leagues included ‘special measures for non-compliance’ – the majority of clubs are doing everything correctly but it is important that this continues, as we do not want to jeopardise the playing of recreational cricket – and leagues and county boards have powers to sanction if necessary.
The full ECB update can be seen here
The details of special measures can be found here
ECB Return To Cricket Grant
A reminder to all Clubs that the ECB have relaxed the criteria slightly for the ECB Return to Cricket Grant enabling many clubs to access up to £3K.
If you feel that you might need some extra help please check the criteria attached and if interested please contact either Graham Jelley or Graham Pryke so that they can send over the very simple application form. Many clubs have applied so don't miss out!
Round 2 has been slightly delayed due to the bad weather about. Please can all clubs make sure they are organising game and adding the fixtures and results onto Play Cricket.
Any problems please do get in touch.
League Presentation Dinner
The league has decided to cancel the league presentation dinner this year.
With it still unclear if groups will be able to meet inside in October and with an eye on saving clubs’ finances we thought it the best action to take at this time.
The dinner will return in 2021.
