Shepherd Neame Essex League News story

Continuing Preparations For The Start Of Cricket

26 Jun 2020

I was hoping to be able to give you some very good news around the return of cricket this week, but unfortunately that didn't quite get over the line.

As mentioned in my previous communication this week the ECB are continuing to work very hard with the Government on getting the game started on or around July 4th.

We hope to hear an update on when recreational cricket can be played from the ECB/government next week.

In the meantime it is still the priority that clubs get ready to play.

I have been having loads of excellent conversations with clubs over the past week and all have many questions around things. So I am delighted that Dan Feist from Essex Cricket has now also taken it upon himself to write a letter – and alongside that is a PDF about preparing facilities for the Return of Cricket.

Please take time to read both the letter and PDF and act on its contents.

Next week we have an emergency SNEL meeting on Wednesday to discuss what the league will look like when we restart – and we will also be asking all clubs some short but very precise questions about what you want cricket to look like for the rest of the summer.

Have a great weekend
