CLUB HISTORY:
We can trace our roots back to 1811. Cricket has been played on the "Fair Field", site of the local bus
station, New Street, site of the Marconi HQ, New Writtle Street, home of the county club and since 1972 our current home Chelmer Park.
The club has enjoyed success over many years and were founder members of the Essex League in the 1970's. There have always been close links with the county club and the club is proud to number Neil Burns, Bob Cooke, Geoff Hurst, Jon Lewis and Brian Ward among its former-playing members.
We have a strong colt's section, founded in the 1970's by that scourge of league batsmen Bob
Shortman. It is now a thriving section with upwards of 80 members. Coaching and management are in the very capable, well qualified hands of Keith Goodman, Eddie Lawrence and Bob Shortman
- a formidable trio!
Everyone; players, supporters visiting teams is always welcome at Chelmer Park. A warm Reception awaits you - no matter the conditions outside!
